MSI MOA Global Final 2010

Overclocking tournaments are coming think and fast this month and first is MSI's MOA - Master Overclocking Arena - which, after regional events, hosted 20 teams from all over the world taking part in the finals in Taipei's National Taiwan University Sports Centre.

Before the extreme overclocking began though, the teams had 2.5 hours to setup their hardware, including volt modding and waterproofing. Neither of these vital modificiations were provided by MSI so the teams had to cart all the extra hardware they required in with them from around the world .

The teams chose randomly which hardware kit they used to make sure there was no favouritism in selection.

That also included seriously heavy copper pots to hold the liquid nitrogen. The base on this one has been drilled out to provide more surface area for the liquid nitrogen to cool.

About an hour into the setup phase we shot a short video to show the kinds of things the teams were doing. Some had already firing up their systems to quickly check everything works and prepare the OS tweaks, before pushing harder later on during the 2.5 hours of Prime95.
